Michael – Cybersecurity Expert & Founder
The Struggle: Michael was building his business while simultaneously working a high level security job. He needed structure and a way to prioritize activities that would drive his business forward. He suffered call reluctance and and a fear of sales prospecting. His challenge was getting prospects to buy security protection services even before a crisis occurred.
Coaching Focus: We worked on his weekly prospecting system to address call reluctance and protect his time and energy. Coaching helped shift his sales mindset and once he understood what his prospects actually need to buy it was easy to find a natural, comfortable way to talk about his services at networking events. He quickly built authentic relationships and found less resistance.
The Change: Michael has said that working with Sue helped him find the power in the pause in conversations with potential customers. He is now waiting and listening more. He quickly found he could generate "hot leads," and building referral partnerships that allowed him to move away from the RFP mentality where he is in competition for opportunities. With weekly coaching he built his own pipeline, and learned to share his unique selling proposition more effectively.
The Quote: "I used to have fear of doing something wrong. After working with Sue, I’ve started telling myself doing something to build relationships is better than waiting until I am ready to do something perfectly."
Client Case Studies
Laurie – Business Development
The Struggle: Laurie’s past experience in telemarketing led her to associate sales with "bugging" people, which created a significant internal barrier to outreach. Adding business development to her role as operations manager felt daunting. She needed support and guidance and her employer didn’t want to micromanage her activity. Coaching twice a month helped support the change.
The Coaching Focus: Laurie learned effective networking techniques that aligned with her natural relationship building personality. By moving her focus away from closing deals and more toward having a "Server Mentality", found networking something she could do well. The tips and tricks Sue shared helped Laurie manage her own anxiety and grow more confident. She now thinks about making others feel comfortable in networking settings and listens more than talks. Coaching for authenticity while learning to avoid technical and stilted language has given her a more natural and comfortable was to talk about a highly technical service.
The Change: Laurie successfully transitioned from back-office operations to a proactive business development leader. She reclaimed hours of creative time by integrating AI tools and mastered her "15-second pitch," evolving from technical "word salad" to a memorable, humorous hook.
The Quote: "I associated sales with bugging people. Sue helped me re-frame my approach from a high stakes hunt, to an act of hospitality.”
Ian – Attorney
The Struggle: Ian favored flying by the seat of his pants. He resisted call structures, fearing they would compromise his authenticity. He was uncomfortable talking about money and avoided pricing discussions. He often used language that included profanity to appear relatable to prospects.
Coaching Focus: Sue coached Ian to take the lead in his calls by being assertive but not aggressive. The changed allowed for empathy but also provided prospects with what they needed in order to make the decision to hire a lawyer. Ian learned to state the call agenda upfront, communicate the firm’s expertise, and confidently discuss price. Sue guided him to embrace pauses, stop interrupting, and encouraged him to swap profanity for empathetic storytelling that aligned more with the legal authority and experience clients expected when they called.
The Change: Ian successfully re-engineered his sales process from reactive consultations to a leadership-driven model. By the end of Q1 2026, the firm achieved record-breaking financial and litigation results.
The "Golden Quote": "It felt weird at first, intentionally saying something I don't like saying, which is 'the purpose of this call is this'... it felt weird, but it worked."
Debbie – Owner
The Struggle: Debbie founded her company while holding down a full-time job. She did not have the desire to micromanage day-to-day sales and business development. She hired Sue to work with her team members so they would acquire the skills necessary to drive new business growth.
The Coaching Focus: Sue provided a mix of strategic business structuring and direct sales coaching outsourcing sales management activity. This included restructuring roles to align strengths-based operations and retention, weekly accountability coaching, KPI tracking, and pipeline development.
The Change: Debbie successfully escaped the "micromanagement trap." The decisions to restructure her team and offloading sales management provided stress relief and an ability to focus on high-level strategic growth rather than daily task supervision. Monthly check-ins with Sue allowed Debbie to confidently face the challenges and decisions necessary when building a new business.
The Quote: "You're like a therapist. You're like a business [therapist]."
